What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Websites can also save small pieces of information in your browser's storage. We use them for things the shop needs to work, things you'd expect it to remember, and to count visits so we can see which products people are looking for.
We don't sell what we learn about you. We do use Meta's advertising cookies to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads, as described below.
Cookies we use
- whizhive_session — keeps your cart, your sign-in and the website's security checks working while you browse. Removed when you close your browser.
- wh_ref and wh_ref_page — remember a referral link you arrived from, and the page it pointed to, for 30 days, so a friend's discount can be applied at checkout.
- wh_vid — a random code for this browser. It lets you vote for a product request only once, and, scrambled so it can't be read back, helps our Facebook and Instagram ads recognise the same visit from one page to the next. Kept for 1 year.
- wh_popup_dismissed_… — remembers that you closed an announcement, for 7 days.
- _ga and _ga_… — set by Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and products are popular. They tell us how many people came and what they looked at, not who you are. Kept for up to 2 years, and not set at all while our own staff are signed in to the shop's admin.
- wh_mu — only if you've ordered from us or signed in on this browser: a coded reference to that order or account (none of your details are in it), so our Facebook and Instagram ads can recognise your later visits the same way as your order. Kept for 90 days; signing out removes it.
- _fbp and _fbc — set by the Meta Pixel, or by our website in the same form, to tell our Facebook and Instagram ads which visits and orders came from them (_fbc only when you arrive by clicking one of our ads). Kept for up to 90 days, and not set while our own staff are signed in to the shop's admin.
- g_csrf_token — set only at the moment you press Sign in with Google, so we can check the sign-in really came from you. Gone as soon as you're signed in.
Browser storage we use
- Whether you've closed the chat assistant's greeting, so it doesn't keep popping up
- Whether the logo animation has already played during this visit
Other services
- Google Fonts: our pages load their fonts from Google, which receives your IP address so it can send the fonts to your browser.
- Google Analytics: counts visits and page views for us, as described above.
- Meta Pixel and Conversions API: tell Meta (Facebook and Instagram) about visits, registrations and orders so we can measure and improve our ads. See the privacy policy for what is sent, and your Facebook or Instagram *Ad preferences* to control the ads you see.
- Sign in with Google: if you use it, Google's own cookies handle your Google sign-in. See the privacy policy for what Google tells us about you.
- Sharing: if you share a product through WhatsApp, Facebook or another app, that app's own policies apply.
Controlling cookies
You can see and delete cookies in your browser's settings, and block them for this website. If you block the session cookie, your cart and sign-in won't work.
